LINCKLAEN – Arthur J. Staley, 81, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007.
Arthur was born in Lincklaen in 1926 and had resided there all his life. He was loved by many, his stories and jokes entertained all. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was a jack of all trades - mechanic, farm machinery, operator and hauler. Many fondly remember him as the “Milk Man” having operated and delivered milk for Staley’s Three Pine Dairy with his late father, William. He was a Clay Equipment Dealer.
Arthur enjoyed country music and square dancing. He was a member of the H.H. Franklin Car Club and the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich.
He was married twice. Once for 20 years and was predeceased by his second wife of 29 years, Cinthia. He was also predeceased by his sister, Edna Davis, and brothers, Fred and Carl.
Surviving: daughters Chris (Jeff) Glave and Melissa (Drew) Pearson, both of DeRuyter; son John (Lucy) of Burt; brother George of DeRuyter; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation or the Northeast Classic Car Museum, Norwich.
