NORWICH – Lawrence Hayden Williams, 83, of Alachua, Fla. and formerly of Norwich, was delivered into the loving arms of his wife, Mary Beckwith Williams, his mother Gertrude Breed Williams, his father Hayden Rosser Williams, and his sister Marjorie Williams Casey, all formerly of Norwich preceded him in death.
Mr. Williams died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. He was a 1943 graduate of Norwich High School, a veteran who served with the Army – Air Force and was employed as an automotive technician and parts manager both in Norwich and Tampa, Fla. before retiring.
He is survived by nieces Maureen Bowman, Palm Coast, Fla. Linda Young, Ormond Beach, Fla., Jeanne Carey, Jacksonville, Fla., and Marilyn Calame of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also surviving are cousins Norma Berton Haggerty, Belleview, Fla., James Breed, Baldwinville, Patty Chancy, Vestal, and Daine Winson of Norwich.
Additionally, he is survived by his brother Bunard A. Davis-Williams, nephew William Davis Williams and niece Barbara Ann Powell of Vestal.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge and Elks Club of Norwich.
Mr. Williams was an exceptionally kind man who was an inspiration to his family and brought a healing unity to his loved ones.
A memorial service is planned for the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich.
