NORWICH – Bernadette T. Reilly, 79, of Norwich, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in June of 1928 in Manhattan, Bernadette was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Sullivan McCloskey. She spent her early years in the New York City area where she worked as a bookkeeper for several employers. Traveling upstate on several different occasions she and her family acquired land on Lake Gerry where they built their camp in 1962. In 1968, she moved with her family to Earlville where they maintained a home for several years. While living in the Earlville area, she was a member of the Sherburne Music Theatre Society. Moving to the Syracuse area and eventually to Texas, Bernadette became very active in Al-Anon which changed her life dramatically. Eventually she moved to the Norwich area in July of 2000 to be closer to her daughter Noreen.
Bernadette is survived by her daughters Noreen Monahan of Norwich and Sheila Hinckley of Fairhope, AL, her sister Mary Jane Fox of Bayville, Long Island and her niece and nephew Jim and Nancy Fox.
Bernadette was predeceased by her husbands Joseph Monahan and Donald Reilly and her daughter Sharon Monahan.
A Mass of Resurrection for Bernadette will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Paul’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, will officiate.
Friends may call at the Marian Chapel of St. Paul’s Church on Wednesday from 9 until 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
