Amelia Vosburgh


MARATHON – Amelia E. Fitch Vosburgh, 90, of Marathon, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at the Cortland Care Center, Cortland.
 Mrs. Vosburgh was born in Vineland, N.J. on May 17, 1917, a daughter of the late Herman and Amelia Jehnzen Diekow. She was one of 11 children and resided most of her life in Marathon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Otselic.
She is survived by her children, John (Mary Lynette) Fitch of Elmira, Alyce Fitch of South Otselic, Barbara Howell of Marathon, Beverly (Stanley) Ely of Cortland, Ruth (Richard) Rood of North Pitcher, and Cheryl Pfeifer of Marathon.  She is also survived by her brothers, Henry (Ginger) Diekow of Florida and Herman Diekow of Colorado; 23 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Malcolm Fitch, in 1973, her second husband, Ed Vosburgh, in 1979, a daughter, Evelyn Fitch, in 1945, a grandson, Edward Funnelle in 1967, a granddaughter, Alta Rood, in 1984, and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of South Otselic at 1 p.m. on Saturday with Reverend Jim Moore and Reverend Daniel Drake officiating. 
Burial will be in Marathon Cemetery in the spring of the year. 
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m.
