NEW BERLIN – Nancy M. “Gramma Nan” Anderson, 80, New Berlin, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 in Oneonta.
She was born Oct. 2, 1927 in Smithville Flats, the daughter of Hugh B. and Alta (Eggleston) Elliott. She spent her childhood in Smithville Flats and New Berlin, and spent winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. She attended the New Berlin Central School. On Dec. 19, 1943, she married Donald I. Anderson, who predeceased her on June 9, 1995.
Nancy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Christopher Burke of New Berlin and Gloria and Trey Williams of Madison; her sons and daughters-in-law: Dale and Flora Anderson of Clearwater, Fla. and Richard and Maureen Anderson of New Berlin; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and by a sister, Barbara Parry of Smyrna,
Nancy was a homemaker who loved to cook and shared in the operation of the family antiques business with her husband. She was also a retired staff member of the Chase Housing Office.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin for over 60 years. She played both the organ and piano for the church as well as the Chase Memorial Nursing Home of New Berlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin. Pastor John Hill, Pastor Richard Anderson, Reverend Harry Huth and Lay Person Judy McCall will officiate. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of New Berlin.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chase Memorial Nursing Home Activity Fund, New Berlin; the New Berlin Fire Department EMS, New Berlin, or the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin.
