NEW BERLIN – Helen Florence Vantran, 96, of Sidney and formerly of Woodbourne, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.
Helen was born Sept. 10, 1911 in New York City, the daughter of Eldon Starley & Lucia Herzog. She married Andrew Vantran on Oct, 26, 1936. He predeceased her on Sept. 8, 1989.
Helen is survived by one son, William A. Vantran and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Vantran of New Berlin.
Grandchildren include: Kathy Vantran and Lynne of Waldorf, Md.; Cynthia and Dennis Sholly of New Manstown, Pa.; Lori and Thomas Grace of New Berlin; Melissa and Kevin Gregory of Delanson, and Timothy and Alicia Vantran of Springfield, Va.
Great Grandchildren: Savannah Sholly Grubb and husband Jeffrey; Shawn Sholly; Abigail and Andrew Grace; Steven and Katherine Gregory and Daniel Vantran.
Sister: Virginia and brother-in-law Harvey Alford of North Lauderdale, Florida; sister-in-law Arlene Starley of Windsor.
Brothers: Robert and William Knudsen and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, George Starley; a sister, Irma Harrison and a brother-in-law, James Harrison.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date in Woodbourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
