OXFORD – Dorothy I. (Mead) Pittsley, formerly of Oxford, passed away April 2, 2008. Dorothy was born September 16, 1925, and raised and schooled in Canastota.
September 30, 1943, she married Jefferson C. Pittsley. They were married for 22 years. She enjoyed flowers, crossword puzzles and taking care of other people.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters and five sons – Rosanna and Harold Moore of Floral City, Fla., Robert and Carla Pittsley, Pa.; Herbert & Mike Pittsley, Floral City, Fla.; James & Nancy Pittsley, Binghamton; Sandra Kilmer, Norwich and Carl S. Pittsley, Norwich. Also, Dorothy is survived by three brothers and their wives - Lawrence & Mary Mead, Va.; Charles & Linda Mead, North Carolina and Jack & Bonnie Mead, Colorado.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Jefferson, December 4, 1965 and her son William, January 1, 1951. Also, two sisters and three brothers – Amy Gridley, Mary Bentley, Donald Mead, Floyd “Skip” Mead and Carl Mead.
Dorothy had 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. There will be no calling hours or funeral.
Contributions can be made to either Hospice or the Diabetic Association.
