NORWICH – Nancy M. Laden, 82, longtime Norwich resident, passed away Sunday evening, April 13, 2008, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.
Born in January of 1926, Nancy lived in Norwich with her parents, Frank and Josephine Caezza, and attended the Norwich schools. In her early years, she lived for a brief time in South New Berlin and worked as a waitress at the Rooster Tail. She later worked for 10 years at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, from which she subsequently retired. Not wanting to be idle, Nancy took part-time jobs, first with Great American and then the Family Diner. She loved music, and enjoyed both singing and dancing, including tap dancing on the stage at the Colonia Theater. She took pleasure in her flower gardens, loved animals, and enjoyed playing bingo. Nancy was a good cook who especially loved making Sunday dinner for her family and spending time with them.
Nancy is survived by her children: Jeanette Murphy, Joanne Prosser and companion Richard Cummings, Frank Laden, William Laden and companion Melissa Mandeville, Patricia Laden and companion Robert Whaley, and Sherri Mudge and husband Dale, all of Norwich. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tanya Moryl and husband Brent of Norwich, Renay Barrows of Gloversville, Jaime Powell of Illinois, and Michael Stephens, Gene Murphy, Ashley Mudge, LeeAnne Laden and Hannah Laden, all of Norwich; and her great-grandchildren: Kelsey Barrows, Kaylin Moseley, Dustin Moseley, John Barrows and Brianna Moseley.
Nancy was predeceased by her son, Richard Laden, and her great-grandson, Christopher Fuller.
Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday from St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Case, pastor of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church of New Berlin, will officiate.
Interment will be at later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
