SHERBURNE – Michael A. Hatton Sr., 45, of Sherburne, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, July 30, 2006 at his home.
Born Sept. 16, 1960 in Norwich, Mike was the son of Harry Hatton and Alice Stringham Peters. He grew up in the Oxford area and attended the Oxford schools.
Mike’s children were his life and were very important to him, as well as, being a good son and brother. Next in line would be his love for motorcycles, most notably his own “86” Harley Sportster which he loved to ride. He was a hard worker all of his life and had worked various jobs in the area. Currently he was employed by Charles J. Husted, Inc. of Mt. Upton. A multi-talented man, he enjoyed many talents and traits. Mike was a certified nurse’s aide and had worked for the New York State Veterans’ Home, Valley View Manor Nursing Home and the Gilmour Health Care Center. He also enjoyed working with wood as a carpenter and was considered a professional truck driver.
Mike also loved the outdoors, his hunting, was a loyal friend to many and was just an all around great guy.
Mike is survived by his children: Desiree Hatton of Binghamton, Michael A. Hatton Jr. of Sherburne and Dawnette Hatton of New Berlin, his parents; Harry Hatton of Oxford and Alice Peters and her husband Charles of Norwich, his sisters; Gail Place and husband Mike of Endwell, Dianne O’Reilly and husband Timothy of Norwich and Nancy Wells and husband Daniel “Doc” of Norwich. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins and a very special best friend and his wife, Kip and Lisa Angle of Florida.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich. The Rev. Brian Conover, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Riverview Cemetery of Oxford.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m.
