NORWICH – Dorothy Mae (Sampson) Plaatje, 76, a resident of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico since 1995, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
She was born July 1, 1931 in Binghamton. She spent her professional career in finance and accounting, retiring from the Sceva Corp, San Jose, Calif.
Dorothy enjoyed her pets and was an avid advocate for the humane treatment of animals. She loved her family and was a wealth of knowledge of her family’s history. Dorothy was a Christian who came to know Christ at North Valley Baptist Church, Santa Clara, Calif. in 1982. She loved singing and was gifted with a lovely voice. Her family and friends will remember her as a loyal wife and mother. She will be missed for her strength, courage and guidance.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Lawrence R. Plaatje, Jr., of TorC, a daughter, Gail, of Mountainair, N.M., and sons Lawrence R. 3rd and wife, Christine, of Lubbock, Texas, and Gary of San Jose, Calif. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael, Stacey, Lawrence R. 4th and Shaefer and 5 great-grandchildren.
