SMITHVILLE FLATS – Grayson T. Flanagan, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 19, 2008.
Grayson operated his family dairy farm in Smithville Flats all of his life. He was former Supervisor of Town of Smithville and served on Chenango County Board of Supervisors. He was a past member of Greene Central School Board and was an honorary member of Genegantslet Fire Department. Grayson was well-liked and respected by everyone in the community and will be sorely missed.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce; and sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Ray Rogan.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Christine) Flanagan, Marlene Vosburg, Kathy Flanagan, James Flanagan, Robert (Page) Flanagan; 17 grandchildren, Todd (Cherish), Thomas (Livia), Troy, Kelly, Travis, Trevor, Chad (Jen), Carrie, Justin (Katrina), Casey, Andrew, Jarrod, Lindsey, John, George, Max and Molly; eight great-grandchildren, Sara, Kayla, Grayson, Parker, Chase, Hunter, Dillon and Tobin; brothers and sisters, Gerald Flanagan, Lois Spinney, Joan (Irv) Crumb; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday at Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. The Very Rev. Ralph E. Osborne, Rector of Zion Episcopal Church, Greene, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greene Emergency Squad or to Genegantslet Fire Responders. Arrangements are by Root Funeral Home, Greene, N.Y.
