James Dunn

NORWICH – James H. Dunn, 61, of Pederson Lane, Norwich, passed away early Monday evening, May 26, 2008 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cortland in March of 1947, Jim was the son of Edwin H. and Pauline (Smith) Dunn, Jr. His family moved to North Norwich when he was quite young, and Jim attended and graduated from the Sherburne schools. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy for a short time, but was discharged for medical reasons and returned to Norwich where he spent the rest of his years. A hard worker who had a good sense of humor and liked to have a good time, Jim worked in construction with his dad for a short time and was employed for a short time by Bennett Ireland before becoming the owner/operator of the Longhorn Bar - West Midland Hotel. But his main job over his life was with his own business, Dunn’s Roofing, where he became widely known. Away from the job, Jim enjoyed making wood furniture and cabinets, and always enjoyed a good joke.
Jim is survived by his mother, Pauline Dunn of Norwich; his daughters, Alanna Dunn and Jamey Supensky and husband Lex, all of Norwich; by his grandchildren, Kristofer Edwin and Lilly Supensky; his brother, Edwin Dunn and wife Dayton of Norwich; and his nephew, Christopher Dunn and his family. He was predeceased by his dad, Ed, in March of 1999.
Memorial services for Jim will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Allen Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford, will officiate. Interment will follow in the North Norwich Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Chenango County 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
