SIDNEY – Helen Judson Smith, 98, of Greenville, S.C., died Monday, May 19, 2008.
Born in Methel, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Minnie Hughes. She and her husband John owned and ran the Judson Home for Adults in Sidney.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Sulger and her husband Arthur, and Janet Caratelli; three grandchildren, Teresa Swisher, Ron Cutting, and Jodie Ingraham; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband John Judson and her second husband Merritt Smith. A long-time resident of the Sidney area, she also lived in Albany for several years before moving to Greenville, S.C. with her family.
Helen was the sister of Alma Hughes, Adelaide MacDonald, Virginia Luscomb, Margaret Gloeckler and Otis Hughes.
Calling hours were held held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Greenville S.C. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Paige Cemetery in Downsville.
