Irene Stazzone


OXFORD – Irene Stazzone, 78, of Oxford, formerly of Richmond Hill, passed away on June 15, 2008 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford. 
She was born on Dec. 31, 1929 in Canning Town, England the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Martha (Tyrell) Smith.  She was married to Philip Stazzone, Sr., who survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Salvatore and Carol Stazzone of Richmond Hill, Joseph and Donna Stazzone of Las Vegas, William Stazzone, Jonathan Stazzone, and Linda Stazzone, widow of her son Philip Stazzone, Jr. all of Richmond Hill; her sisters, Gillian Stamp of Canada and Margaret Lodge of England; her grandchildren, Phillip Stazzone III, Salvatore Stazzone Jr., Elizabeth Stazzone, Teresa Stazzone, Arthur James Stazzone, Victor Stazzone, Deanna Stazzone and Joseph Stazzone Jr.; her great grandchildren, Jason Cardona, Alexander Stazzone, and Alexis Arakas.  She was predeceased by her children, Philip Stazzone Jr., Arthur James Stazzone and Christina Stazzone.
Irene was a very loving and caring mother, with a passion for taking care of children.  She enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church of Oxford and the VFW Auxiliary #5253 of Albertson.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford with the Rev. Thomas I. Ward celebrating the Mass.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
