AFTON – William Ralph Birdsall, 82, of Afton, passed away on August 3, 2006 after a long illness at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1923 in Walkill, the son of Ralph S. & Emma (Harris) Birdsall. He married Frances Birdsall on Nov. 25, 1950 in Campbell Hall. He was self-employed farmer with his wife Frances. He retired from dairy farming in 1988; he was an avid outdoorsman and gardner his whole life.
William was predeceased by his wife, Frances, and one son, William Birdsall Jr.
He is survived by his children, Robert & Cathy Birdsall of Afton, Kenneth Birdsall of Purdys, Thomas Birdsall of Binghamton, Charles Birdsall & Sharon McFarland of Owego, Sandra Jordan of Guilford; and Regina Birdsall and Janice Birdsall both of Afton; five grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth & Jim McQuiston of Afton, Anna Stematedes of Walkill and Alice Lozier of Newburg.
A private graveside service will take place in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the Dorothy Memorial Home, Afton.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Chenango County Chapter of the Red Cross, Norwich.
