NORWICH – Ruth Ryan Wheeler, 95, Norwich, passed away Friday morning, June 20, 2008 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital,
Born on the family farm in Oxford in February of 1913, Ruth was the daughter of Hubert and Olive (Race) Ryan. She attended school in Oxford and worked in the Oxford/Sidney/Norwich area, retiring from the then C&U Telephone Co. in 1978. On Dec. 30, 1949, in Oxford, she married Russell Lawrence Wheeler, who passed away May 30, 1973. She also saw her brothers Stanley, Thomas and Hubert and sisters Helen, Doris, Polly and Margie, go before her.
Ruth is survived by the nieces and nephews for whom she did so much and cared for so completely. We were lucky to have had her in our lives for so long. She will be missed but not forgotten.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at noon on Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with Ruth’s great niece, Maureen Reyes, conducting the service.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service at noon. Interment in Riverview Cemetery of Oxford will follow.
