In 1960, Bill purchased the historic landmark restaurant Hand’s Inn, and operated the local eatery and bar until 1968. He then completed his working career as a salesperson for the Hamilton-based Vantine Studios, retiring in 1986.
Bill was an avid athlete and sportsman, excelling in local softball, bowling, tennis, table tennis, and golf, winning many titles and championships. He was a member of the Canasawacta Country Club and Seven Oaks Golf Club, as well as fraternal organizations Elks, VFW and American Legion.
