SHERBURNE: Stanley J. Hill, 90, a lifelong resident of Sherburne, passed away Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Gilmour Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
He was born March 19, 1918 in Sherburne, a son of Jay and Winifred Hack Hill, and received his education in Sherburne in the one room schoolhouse. On May 11, 1940, Stanley married Frances E. Weed in Sherburne. She predeceased him on June 1, 2001. Stan was a farmer and had also worked for Standard Brands, Dansevitch Feed Store and then T.A.C.O. until his retirement.
Stan was of the Episcopal faith. He enjoyed deer hunting with his boys, fishing and gardening. He was also a marksman skeet shooter.
Surviving are his children; Linda Hatton, Lawrence Hill, Bernard Hill, Gary and Jeanette Hill, all of Sherburne; a sister, Edith Hill of Utica; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two grand nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from Noon until the time of the service.
