NORWICH – Lewis William Carrier, 56, formerly of Norwich, died suddenly July 6, 2008 at his home in Crook, Colo.
Born in Norwich in March of 1952, he was the son of William Carrier. At the age of 5, Lewis came to live and be raised by George and Pearl Hitchcock of Norwich.
Lewis was graduated from the Norwich High School with the Class of 1972. He was a varsity bowler and earned many awards. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. Following his Army career, Lewis worked for many years at the Norwich Shoe Factory. He married Connie Miner, who died Nov. 6, 2004.
For the past 17 years, Lewis made his home in Sterling, Colo. It was there he could be near his sister as well as continue his passion for hunting and fishing. He was a manager at the Kuskoe Oil Company. His coworkers expressed that he was an avid vegetable gardener and made the best pickles in Colorado.
Lewis is survived by his three daughters: Misty, Heather and Billie Jo Carrier of Norwich, and his granddaughter Natyka Spencer; the Hitchcock family: George, Pearl, Edwin and Thuvia (Hitchcock) Stopford of Norwich. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and close friend Larry Metcalf of Sterling, Colo. as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Lewis was predeceased by his wife Connie, and by his sisters, Velva Metcalf and Mary Carrier.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling, Colo.
