NORWICH – Jane C. Stewart, 66, of Norwich, passed away early Monday evening, July 28, 2008, at the Gilmour Health Care Facility, with her family by her side.
The daughter of Arna and Doris (Breed) Feint, Jane was born in Cuyler in September of 1941 and grew up in the area, graduating from Truxton High School. She lived in South Otselic prior to her marriage in Truxton on July 6, 1963 to James W. Stewart. Jane and Jim owned and operated a farm in Mt. Vision for 25 years, retiring in 1988 and moving to Norwich. In retirement, Jane had time to pursue her true passion, caring for older people, and worked as a home care aide as well as spending 12 years in the employ of Chenango Memorial Hospital’s long-term care program. She was also an avid fan of country western music.
Jane is survived by her husband, Jim, of Norwich, with whom she recently celebrated their 45th anniversary; by her sister, Irene King of Cortland; nieces and nephews Heidi, Michelle, Kenneth, and Denise; and many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly Ann.
Funeral Services for Jane will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Taylor Rural Cemetery of Taylor.
