NORWICH – Jean R. Curnalia, 78, of Norwich, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, 2008 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Jean was born in Williamsport, Pa. on Aug. 16, 1929, the daughter of Leslie and Gertrude (Lippert) Rougeux. She graduated from Binghamton High School, and received her diploma as Medical Office Assistant from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
A long time resident of Norwich, Jean worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist at Chenango Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1989. On May 29, 1969 in Pharsalia Jean married John C. Curnalia. He passed away in 1992.
Jean is survived by her children, William and his wife Debra Pratt of Rotterdam, Janice VanHouten of Gilbertsville, and Andrew Pratt of Norwich; and her grandchildren, Jonathan and Cassandra Pratt of Albany and Joshua, Stephanie and Dakota VanHouten of Gilbertsville.
Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the American Red Cross or the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Funeral services for Jean will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor of St. Bartholomew’s and St. Paul’s Churches, officiating. Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
