Charles Brazee


PLYMOUTH – Charles R. Brazee, 81, of Plymouth, passed away late Wednesday night, Aug. 27, 2008) in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home of Norwich.
Born in Plymouth in September of 1926, Charles was the son of Jesse and Wahneta (Wilson) Brazee. While growing up in Plymouth, he attended the one-room school in Kirk. He had lived m several different areas during his time, but returned to settle in Plymouth for the last 25-30 years. Charles had worked for various area employers over his life, including Norwich Mills, the Greene Brass and Aluminum Foundry, Raymond Corp., Bennett Ireland, and several area farms, but found his ideal job later in his life when he took up cutting pulp and firewood. He enjoyed his gardening, and loved to hunt and fish. Known as a loving, gentle, and hard working man, Charles was a man of few words; but when lie did speak, he meant business. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country from February of 1945 through December of 1946.
Charles is survived by his companion, Betty Shepard of Plymouth; his children and their spouses: Ellen Carpenter and Wilson of South Plymouth, Beverly and James Button of Plymouth, Rose and David Button of Plymouth, Norma Brazee of South Plymouth, Cindy and Doug Crosby of Smyrna, Pamela Harvey of Mohawk, Charles and Pam Brazee of West Winfield; and his daughter-in-law, Tammy Brazee of Sherburne. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; his sisters; Millie French of Norwich, Evelyn Mock of Savannah, Ga., Beatrice Usher and husband Barry of Norwich, Joyce Donnelly and husband Roland of North Norwich, and Darlene Manwarren and husband Leon of Plymouth: his brother, David Brazee of Oxford; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Luanne; grandchildren Wendy Brazee and Brent Jackson; sisters Arlene, Barb and Charlotte, and brothers Daniel, Jesse, Frank and Francis.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at noon on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Hinman, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment with full military rites will follow in the South Plymouth Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon.
