SHERBURNE – Suzanne M. Newman, 46, of Endicott, formerly of Sherburne, passed away unexpectedly at her home.
She was born April 5, 1962 in Norwich, a daughter of Richard “Dick” and Joan Wynn Newman. She was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville Central School and SUNY Morrisville. Suzie worked at NBT in Norwich for several years, and then at the Binghamton Savings Bank in Binghamton. Realizing her life’s purpose was in nursing, she enrolled in the nursing program at DCMO BOCES where she earned her LPN degree. She recently held the position of Charge Nurse at the Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal and was dedicated to her patients.
Suzie was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne. She loved sports and was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. She avidly followed both teams and had the uncanny knack of remembering statistics, stories and trivia of all sorts. Suzie loved family gatherings and had a special place in her heart for her niece and nephew. She had a wonderful network of friends and co-workers at the nursing home and in the Endicott area.
Surviving is her mother, Joan Newman of Sherburne; a sister and brother-in-law, Ginny and Chris Chesebro of Norwich; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Aimee Newman of Sherburne; a niece, Elizabeth Chesebro of Norwich ; a nephew, Andrew Chesebro of Washington, D.C.; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her father predeceased her on Jan. 6, 2007.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne, followed by burial in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 South Main Street , Sherburne on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
