Nancy Sastri


HAMILTON – Nancy Runyon Sastri, 83, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at her home.
She was born April 26, 1925 in Sherburne, a daughter of the late Lee C. “Dutch” and Anna Brown Runyon and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On Aug. 25, 1947, Nancy married Salvatore “Sam” Sastri in St. Bart’s Church, Norwich. Mrs. Sastri was a secretary in the English Department at Colgate University in Hamilton for 25 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Sastri was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a communicant of St. Helen’s Church in Vero Beach, Fla. and a member of the Ladybug Craft Group.
Surviving are her husband, Salvatore “Sam”; her children, Ann and Lyle Motley of Painted Post; and John Sastri of New Haven, Conn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Sallie and Robert Jones of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Grace Runyon of Sherburne; two grandchildren, Eustacia Bean and Jackson Sastri; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and John Runyon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
The rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
