NORWICH– Marguerite Rogers, 99, of Norwich, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 18, 2008 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Ilion on October of 1908, Marguerite was the daughter of Homer and Leah Bloss Rogers. She began her working years with the Holmes Agency in New Berlin, which later became Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, where she worked for over 50 years in a secretarial capacity. She was a spry woman who was also an avid roller skater in the rinks, which she did will into her 60s. A fashionable and stylish woman, she always took pride in her appearance and loved to go shopping and have her hair done every Saturday. For over 20 years, she volunteered at the Chase Nursing Home on Sundays so that the caregivers there could have Sundays with their families. She also enjoyed driving to Oneonta on a regular basis with her friends for lunch and always enjoyed a good game of cards with her friends in the neighborhood.
Marguerite has no known relatives, but has many good friends in the Norwich and New Berlin area, including Clayton and Marion Barnes, Pauline Smith, Charlotte Harrington and Julie King. She was recently predeceased by her good friend Robert “Bob” Galvin.
Funeral services for Marguerite will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Taylor of New Berlin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery of New Berlin.
