NORWICH – Rozella Sarah Everard, age 95, went quietly to be with the Lord on Oct. 20, 2008. Her family was in attendance.
Rozella was the daughter of George and Lena (Palmer) Cady, and the wife of Boniface Everard for 44 years. Her primary joy in life was her family and homemaking. She received her hairdressing license in 1940 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in the 1950s. Rozella was one of the first nurses at Valley View Manor Nursing Home. Her last employment was at the Chenango Valley Home as LPN and Assistant Matron. She also found time for her hobbies, such as crocheting, doll collecting, ceramics, and cake decorating, and spent much time writing poems. She had made their home at the Peacock Park Apartments for 20 years, and her last three years were spent at the Norwich CMH-RHCF.
Rozella is survived by her children and their spouses. Janet and John Ames and James and Sharon Everard, all of Norwich; her grandchildren: Colleen DeSalvatore and husband Nick of Syracuse. Kim Pickard and husband Ken of Greene, Andy and Allison Everard, both of Norwich, Dawn Christopherson and husband Mark of Norwich, Bonnie Curtiss and husband Frank of Pittsfield, Mass., Corrinna Fleming and husband Brian of Wilmington, N.C., and Matthew Ames of Nantucket, Mass. She is also survived by great grandchildren Carson and Madison Pickard, Dominic and Vincent DeSalvatore, Nathan Christopherson, Cole, Jake and Sean Fleming, and William and Jake Curtiss. Rozella was predeceased by her husband “Bonney” on July 28, 1979; by her sisters, Helen Brown and Bessie Wood: and her brothers, George and Harlow Cady.
Funeral services for Rozella will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will follow in the South Plymouth Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
