NORWICH – Harold Tracy was born Sept. 10, 1910 in Norwich,, son of Lucinda and Byron Tracy. He passed away July 5, 2006 at his home in Fort Myers, Fla.
Harold was owner/operator of Tracy Baking Co. for many years. He also held franchise for Holsum Bread Co. and owned other bakeries. His interests were many including being an avid sportsman and pilot. He was one of the pioneers of Midstate Aviation. Harold held licenses for single engine, multi engine, commercial and flight instruction. He was a member of The Bowlers Hall of Fame and was a long time member of the Lost Pond Club and the winner of many local and state skeet championships. Hunting and fishing were two of his passions and as a pilot he was able to do these sports in places across the country and in Canada.
He married Olive Babcock on Oct. 3, 1936. She predeceased him. On Aug. 5, 1972, he married Catherine Shaheen. She passed away June 22, 2003.
Harold is survived by a step-son, Walter Tracy of Norwich; a step-daughter, Ann Shahee of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a step-son, Lou Shaheen and his wife Janet of Chapel Hills, N.C.; five step-grandchildren, Walter Mack Tracy of Oneida, Kimberly Sauta of Cicero, Robyn Donnally of Bridgeport, Allison & Jeremy Shaheen of Chapel Hills, N.C. ; a cousin Myrtie Werlau of Norwich along with numerous friends.
He was predeceased by a step-daughter, Patti Jack Parker.
A graveside memorial service and interment will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
