Louise Squires
SHERBURNE – Louise C. Squires, 63, of Sherburne, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 20, 2009, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital,
The daughter of Richard and Louise Forgas Roberts, Louise was born in July of 1945 in Syracuse. She grew up in Solvay, where she attended and graduated from the local schools. Louise relocated to Cortland for a time, then moved to Norwich where she married Gary Squires Sr., on Feb. 6, 1985. She was employed over her years by the Norwich Shoe Company, the Blue Bird Restaurant, the Ontario Restaurant, and Valley View Manor Nursing Home. But her main job was taking care of her family, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Louise and her family lived in Guilford for 14 years, and for the past 12 years were residents of Sherburne.
Louise is survived by her husband, Gary Squires Sr. of Sherburne; her mother, Louise Roberts of Lakeland; and her children and their spouses: Staff Sgt. Richard T. and Andrea Rose Jr., stationed in Jacksonville, N.C., Tammie Beckwith and companion Harry Mosher of Castle Creek, Loretta and Bill Craw of Norwich, Todd Rose of Norwich, Angel and Larry Cochran of Endicott, Staff Sgt. Gary W. and Diane Squires Jr., of Okinawa, Japan, Patty Squires and companion Mike Halavic of Endicott, and Edward Squires of Allentown, Pa. Also surviving are grandchildren Sean, Amber, Michael, Nicole, Stephanie, Ryan, Devin, Haylea, Nathaniel, Shelby, Misty, Christy, Chandler, Scotty, Zaire, Zachary, Jenna, Megan, and Kyle; great-grandaughter Taylor; her sister, Sandy Hamil and husband Phill “Cos” of Waterboro, Maine; her brothers: Richard Roberts Jr. and wife Donna of Solvay, John Roberts and wife Shelly of Warners, and Lawrence Roberts of Lakeland; and nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her dad, Richard.
Funeral services for Louise will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the North Norwich Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
