EDMESTON – Roxy Eliza Cline, 83, formerly of West Hill Apartments, Edmeston and Cooperstown, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at Fox Hospital.
She was born April 8, 1925 in Middlefield, the daughter of Barney and Nettie (Murray) Snyder. She married Harvey Cline Jan. 8, 1944. He passed away on Oct. 2, 1990. Roxy was employed for many years as an operating room technician at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She was a homemaker and loving mother and was also an avid quilter and crotchetier and had donated many quilts to the Edmeston Fire Department for their fund raisers.
She is survived by her children, Jeanette Benjamin, of Burlington Green, Lyle Cline and wife Jeanne of Oxford, Leona Utter and husband David of Hartwick, a sister Marian Peeters of Maryland, a son-in-law Walter Rogers of Sherburne. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren who include Peggy Sue Schilling and husband Glen, Kevin Stickles and wife Heather, Faith Chase and Robert, Russell Cline and Sandy, Florence Bliss and husband Keith, Arthur Benjamin and wife Gloria, Tim Benjamin and wife Beth, Paul Benjamin and wife Linda, Kelly Benjamin, Walter Rogers Jr. and wife Debbie, Ella Preston and husband Kevin, John Rogers and wife Charleen, Mike Rogers and wife Brenda, Daniel Rogers and wife Judy, LaDonna Lilly and husband Justin, Laura Porter and husband Scott, Lyle Cline Jr. and wife Susan and many great and great great grandchildren.
Roxy was predeceased by a son Harvey Cline Jr., a daughter, Agnes Rogers, a son who died shortly after birth, her sister May Jones and her brothers, Louis, John, Volney, Lawrence and Edward Snyder and a son-in-law Donald Benjamin and a daughter-in-law Joan Cline.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday at the Johnston Funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon, at which time a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Ray Merritt officiating.
Committal services and burial will follow at the Fly Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make donations to ‘the Resident Council Fund, “Oneonta Nursing Home, 330 Chestnut St. Oneonta, NY 13820 in her memory.
