SHERBURNE – Mr. Raub M. Smith, 88, of Parks Road, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home, Waterville.
He was born in Trenton, N.J. on July 13, 1920, a son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Woodward Smith, and attended local schools. On Feb. 14, 1941, Raub married Barbara Lenhardt in Mercerville, N.J. She predeceased him on March 28, 1996. Raub joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II. Following the war, he worked for the Otis Elevator Co. in Trenton, N.J. until his retirement. Moving to North Norwich in 1982, he joined his sons in the operation of their dairy farm.
Surviving are his children, John and Loretta Smith, Raub and Janet Smith, all of North Norwich; Michael and Diana Smith of Veedersburg, IN; Barbara and Kendall Malinowski of Delores, Colo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Dora Smith of Wrightstown, N.J.; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Graveside services with military honors will be held in the North Norwich Cemetery at noon on Wednesday.
There will be no calling hours.
