Vincent Biviano


NORWICH – Vincent J. Biviano, 88, of Birdsall Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born May 12, 1918 in Norwich, Vince was the son of Angelo and Mary (Caezza) Biviano. He graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1937 and from Morrisville College, graduating in 1940. After working for Gulf Oil in Syracuse for a short time, Vince served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the 347th Army Band, playing the clarinet while touring the country on recruiting drives and bond drives.
On April 12, 1947, in Norwich, Vince married Rose C. (Casamento) Biviano. He worked for the Norwich Shoe Company first in 1946 as a foreman in the cutting department and then as a production coordinator, retiring in 1983. Following retirement, Vince enjoyed many rounds of golf at the Bluestone Golf Course in Oxford, where he was a member. He also loved gardening, traveling with the Senior Citizens and bowling with the Golden Age Bowlers. He also bowled in the Independent League. Vince played clarinet in both the Norwich City Band and the Smyrna Town Band. He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church and of the American Legion.
Vince is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose, of Norwich; his son, Vincent Biviano and his wife, Lorie, of San Jose, California, Gina and Teresa; daughter, Diane Curry and her husband, Michael of Westboro, Mass. and their children, Jared and Talyn; a brother, Angelo Biviano, of Norwich and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection for Vince will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Church of the Holy Apostle St. Bartholomew. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
