PLYMOUTH – Terry Lee Bishop, 55, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly Sunday night, May 3, 2009, in the Wilson Regional Hospital of Johnson City.
Born in Pikestown, Ohio, in May of 1953, Terry was the son of Charles Goodin and Janet Gertrude Corby Bishop. He was a graduate of the Otselic Valley High School and of SUNY Morrisville, where he studied automotive technology. Terry worked for a time for Morton’s Garage in Cortland, Detroit Elevator in Detroit, Mich., and the DEC in Sherburne before beginning his lengthy career with the Chenango County Highway Dept. At the time of his retirement from Chenango County, in August of 2008, he was a shop foreman and had 29 years of service.
Terry was a man who devoted himself to everything he did. A gifted mechanic who loved to tinker, he was a fan of Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed riding his own bike. Above all, he was a caring and devoted family man who was a foster parent for many years.
Terry is survived by his mother, Janet Bishop of Norwich; his children: Tanyika Bishop and companion Sam Clemens and Coty Lee Bishop and companion Ashleigh Hays, all of Plymouth: Terry’s companion, Theresa Horton of Plymouth; the mother of his children, Patricia Enslow of Norwich: and his granddaughter, Kyara Manwarren. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Arthur and Sue Bishop of Plymouth, Charles and Gwen Bishop of Smith Creek, Mich., David and Dolores Bishop of Sherburne, Bonnie and Elwin Wilcox of Guilford, Gloria and William Collar of Norwich, Linda and Bob Creller of Little Meadows, Pa. and Bob and Tammy Bishop of Smyrna; by nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. Terry was predeceased by his dad, Charles Bishop.
Funeral services for Terry will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the Earlville Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery of Hamilton. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Fri. from 7-9 p.m.
