TAMPA, Fla. – Edson G. Hauer, 57, formerly of Chenango County, and most recently Land O Lakes Florida, passed away May 2, 2009 at his home in Florida.  
He was born on June 6, 1951, the son of Reva Sadler and the late Eddie Hauer.
He is survived by his mother Reva Saldler, his companion of 12 years, Brandi Smith and her two children, Dimitries and Shaynala Smith, of Land O Lakes Florida. Ed’s children, Jason Hauer and wife Carol of Rochester, N.H., Justin Hauer, Christopher Hauer, Heather Hauer and life partner Patty Ross, Kenneth Hauer and wife Cara all of the Binghamton area. He is also survived by several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Hauer and Damon Smith, son of Brandi Smith.
Ed grew up in the Chenango County area. He was a Veteran and served his country in the Air Force for several years. Ed lived the last half of his life primarily in Florida as he loved the sunshine and warm weather. Ed had a great sense of humor and always tried to be upbeat even in bad times. He was always more concerned about those around him than himself. He displayed his sense of humor and concern for others, even in his last days. His most recent endeavor as an Owner-Operator truck driver was very important to him as he loved being on the open road.
In accordance with Ed’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
