THOMAS COLLINS
OXFORD – Thomas Myron Collins, 57, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2009 at his home.
Tom was born in Norwich in September of 1951 and grew up in Oxford with his mother and step-father, June Gardner Kenyon and Charles G. Kenyon. He was a graduate of the Oxford Academy High School, and worked for 12 years as a correction facility officer in Dade City, Fla.
Tom loved spending time with his family, doted on his grandchildren, and enjoyed being outdoors no matter what the weather. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and sky diving with Robert and Mark and enjoyed the time spent with all his nieces and nephews.
Tom is survived by his children: Gregory Collins and Mindy of Oxford, Nicole Collins of Florida, and Tom Collins of New Jersey; and his grandchildren: Kaden and Kaleigh Collins, both of Oxford, and Devon Smith of Florida. He is also survived by his significant other, Daphne Burdick of Oxford; his sisters and brothers: Laureen Morley of McDonough, Susan Birdsall and husband Robert, Ceta Sheets and husband John, Allan Kenyon and wife Tina, all of Oxford, and Gregg Kenyon of Norwich; and by his cat, Sammy. Tom was predeceased by his mother and father, June and Charles Kenyon; by his biological father, Carl Collins; and by his brothers. Wayne, Jerry and Charles Kenyon Jr.
Graveside services for Tom will be held at 10 a.m. on May 21 from the Riverview Cemetery of Oxford. The Rev. Joseph Acanfora, Pastoral Care Coordinator for Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
