Monroe Rogers


OXFORD – Monroe B. “Skip” Rogers, of Oxford passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2009 at his home, with his family by his side. 
He was born on Nov. 20, 1941 in New Lisbon, the son of the late Peter and Grace (Allen) Rogers. On May 5, 1962 he married Siri M. Hogart, who survives.
He is survived by his wife Siri of Oxford; his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Ingraham of Oxford; his grandchildren, Nickolas, Alexander, Benjamin, Samantha and Nicole; his sisters and brothers, Florence Garner of Anderson, S.C., Lawrence Rogers of Oxford, Ida and Paul Bard of Norwich, Alice Hubbard of Manheim, Pa., Doris and Paul Townsend of Norwich, Wayne Cleon and Beverly Rogers of Brisben, Maxine and Donald Gregory of Edmeston and Arlene Rogers of Norwich.  He is also survived by a special friend and neighbor, Barbara Tefft.  He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Bernice Russell, Earl Rogers, Sarah Jackson and Jeanette Cranshaw.
Skip started his own business in 1987, M.B. Rogers Telephone Contractor, which he operated until his retirement. He was very proud of sponsoring the first Oxford Youth Sports Program Wrestling Tournament, which is still operating. He will be remembered for the many Christmas lights that he erected on his home every year on the East River Road in Oxford. He was a talented guitar player and singer. He enjoyed woodworking, having made many things for his home.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chenango County, Chenango Memorial Hospital, Wilson Memorial Hospital and Good Shepherd-Fairview Home for their wonderful care of Skip and the family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Romeyn Kipp pastor of the Holmesville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
 Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Friday from 7-9 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
