BAINBRIDGE – Robert J. Cain, 77, of Bainbridge, passed away on May 28, 2009 at Valley View Manor, Norwich.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1932 in Brooklyn, a son of George and Dorothy (Kolyer) Cain.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ives Starr Cain of Bainbridge; his children, Robert Cain, Jr., Rosemary Foster, Candice Gusmano, Steven and Rose Cornell, Teresa and Michael Kleinwaks, Lorrinda Cornell and David Cornell; his brother, John and Winsome Cain of The Bronx; several grandchildren, including Lisa Cain, Melanie Cornell and children Connor and Dixie Rose and Vernon and Gelyn Cornell.
Bob retired from Lucent Technologies (formerly Western Electric) after 40 years of service. He had a great passion for music and amassed an extremely large collection of records. He enjoyed playing chess and bridge. He also liked long walks and photography.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lynn Shepard, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton.
Friends may call at the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
