David Paden


OXFORD – David A. Paden, 61, of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. He was born on June 18, 1947 in Oxford the son of Maurice and Lola (Law) Paden. On April 26, 2001 he married Jeanne Crandall Borchardt.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Oxford; his parents, Maurice and Lola Paden of Oxford; his son and daughter in law, Timothy and Stephanie Paden of Oxford; his daughter and son in law, Jeanne and Jason McCann of Watertown; his step children, Timothy and Susan Borchardt of Greene, Anita Flood and Betsy Moline, both of North Carolina; his brothers and sisters in law, Thomas and Marie Paden of Oregon, Ronald and Ellen Paden of Chenango Forks, and Kenneth and Sue Paden of Sidney; his sister and brother in law, Maureen and Donald Hoyt of Romulus; his grandchildren, Christian, Bennett, Leanne and Wesley; hand his step grandchildren, Adam, Jared, Lauren, Brandon, Renee, Zachary, David and Mary and his great granddaughter, Bailee; his aunts and uncle, James and Kathryn Paden, Caroline Whitney, Barbara Lawton, and Ruth Potter. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
David was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School.  He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member over 40 years and past commander of Fort Hill Post #376 American Legion of Oxford, a member of Christy Rock Post Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Norwich Elks Club.  He was a member of the Lake Ludlow Club and the Oxford Rod and Gun Club.  He was an honorary member of the Oxford Fire Department.  In the early 1970’s he was a special Deputy Sheriff. He retired in 2003 as a corrections officer at Camp Pharsalia. He loved spending time at Lake Ludlow hunting and fishing.  He especially enjoyed family gatherings. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, darts and shuffleboard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Ralph Osborne, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
