OXFORD – Clayton Walter Boise, 73, of State Highway 220, passed away peacefully June 5, 2009 at the home of his son in Brookfield.
He was born May 16, 1936 in Sherburne, a son of the late Walter and Henrietta Hicks Boise and was a graduate of Sherburne High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force as well as the Army reserves. For several years, he worked for GLA, Simmons Precision, Lewis Engineering and most recently for Parts Plus. His real passion has always been music. While in the Air Force, he played in the Air Force Band and won an award which allowed him to play at Air Force bases throughout the world. His local bands included “Country Cousins” with his cousin Dick Boise, and “The Clayt Boise Band”, playing with Joe and Pepi Mauriano, Dwane Bliss and his son, Joe Boise. They played in local clubs like Taylor’s Country House and The Halfway House, and in stage shows at various country music parks in New York and Pennsylvania. He was a dear brother, dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his children, Lysa (Boise) Thornton of Sherburne; Aaron and Stacy (Seaman) Boise of Brookfield; Kelly (Boise) and Alan Lawton of NC; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Boise) and Bob Eccleston of Cincinnatus; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jean Boise of Sherburne; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Boise and a brother, David Boise.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
