OSWEGO – Francis F. Figary, 80, of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at his home.
The son of George and Grace Figary, Francis was born in Norwich in June of 1928. He was a graduate of the Norwich High School and of Potsdam State College in Potsdam, where he received a degree in engineering. Francis had lived in Oswego for many years, had worked for numerous years as an engineer for GE in Syracuse, and retired from his last employment, the Miller Brewing Company of Fulton. A veteran of the United States armed services, he had served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Francis is survived by his brother, Raymond Figary and wife Sylvia of Norwich; and by nieces and nephews and their spouses: Ray and Debbie Figary, Jr., of Lebanon, Ohio, Michael Figary of Olathe, Kansas, Debbie and Jim Davis of Sherburne, Douglas Figary of Endicott, Diane and Jeff Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., Randy and Cheryl Figary of Memmack, N.H., and Donna and Ben Mumbulo of Bainbridge. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys; by his brothers Merton, Harold, and Lynn; his sister Fern; and niece, Cindy Timperlake.
Graveside services for Francis will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday from the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Ted Lawrence, pastor of the West Smyrna Baptist Church, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
