PITCHER – Elsie L. Eccleston, of Pitcher, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford, at the age of 92.
Mrs. Eccleston was born in Tully on April 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Floyd and Lulu Stillman Crandall. A longtime resident of the area, she was a member of the South Otselic American Legion Post Auxiliary for several years.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Dwight Eccleston of Leominister, Mass., Debra (William) Gates of Pitcher, Leon Arthur (Cindy) Eccleston of DeRuyter, and Charles Robert (Tammi) Eccleston of Greenville, Pa. She also leaves behind her sisters, Alice Rookard of Kansas, Beth (Dick) Baldwin of Georgia, and Alma Ayers of Florida; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald D. Eccleston on January 28, 1996 and a sister, Maybell Contino.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Pitcher Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
