Mildred Izard


NORWICH – Mildred L. Izard, 86, of Grace Manor Apts., Calvary Dr., formerly of New Berlin, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
She was born Sept. 15, 1922 in Telford, Tenn., one of eleven children of Joseph and Lizzy Byrd Spurling, and received her education in local schools. On Oct. 31, 1937, Mildred was married to Richard C. Izard who predeceased her on April 1, 1966. Mildred assisted her husband in the operation of their dairy farm in New Berlin, and had been a home health aide for several years.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.
Surviving are her children, Betty and Eugene MacGeen of Pulaski, Tenn.; Brenda Weidman of New Berlin; Bill Izard and Mary Weidman of South New Berlin; Patricia Llewellyn of Sherburne; Larry Izard of Orlando, Fla.; Pamela Weidman and her fiancé, Howard Bowen Jr. of New Berlin; Sandra and Charles Burk of Norwich; Deborah and Camille Hyder of South New Berlin; Benjamin and Sandra Izard of South New Berlin; and Wanda Izard of Scottsville; a brother, William Spurling of New Market, Tenn.; 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters; two sons-in-law, James Weidman and Herbert Llewellyn; a daughter-in-law, Marie Izard, and a grandson Joseph MacGeen.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
