ANTHONY FUNARO
NORWICH – Anthony W. Funaro, 74, a life long Norwich resident, passed away Wed. evening, Dec. 18, 2013 in the Norwich Rehabilitation Center of Norwich.
Anthony was born in Norwich on Nov. 28, 1939 the son of George and Viola Simmons Funaro. He grew up in Norwich where he attended and graduated from the Norwich school. Over the years, Anthony had worked for the Norwich Knitting Mill, the Chenango County Highway Dept., Egro-Tech of Sherburne, Dunckel’s Egg farm, CWS and Morris Protective Services as a security guard. On April 20, 1968 in St. Bartholomew’s Rpman Catholic Church he married Sandra Drinkwater.
Anthony is survived by his daughters Melissa Wackford of Norwich, Debra Thompson and companion Lynn Manwarren also of Norwich, his sister Patricia Williams and husband Ernie of Oxford, his grandchildren Corey, Maisie, Sheldon, Michael Jr and Tyler. Also surviving is one great grandchild Skiler and several nieces and nephews.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife Sandra and sister Joann Simpson.
A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Horne, Chaplain of the Norwich Rehabilitation Center will officiate.
