MORRIS – Margaret (Peg) E. Clement, 88, a resident of Morris for 64 years and more recently of Chenango Valley Apartments, Norwich passed away July 31, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born in Viroqua, Wisc. on March 18, 1921, the daughter of Carl and Johanna (Hansen) Enggaard. She graduated from Norwich High School (Class of 1939) She married Raymond Nichols Clement on Aug. 18, 1939.
She was employed at the United States Post Office, in Morris for many years. She was a charter member of the Butternut Valley Arts and Crafts Center and had taught several classes there. Peg was also an active member of the Butternut Valley Garden Club and also the Morris United Methodist Church.
She was devoted to her family and maintained a lovely home. Peg saw the most profound beauty in the simplest aspects of life which gave her a deep appreciation of her life, family, friends, home and village. She had the gift of hospitality making her family and friends feel that her home was their home. She will be missed by the many people.
Peg is survived by her son Philip Ray Clement and wife Jane of Norwich, her grandchildren, Andrew Ray Clement and wife Angela of Mt. Upton, Margaret Helen Hemstrought and husband Robert of Clinton, her great-grandchildren, Stephanie Clement Fowlston, Skylar and Alexis Clement, Emily and Abigail Hemstrought. She is also survived by her twin sister Kathleen (Kay) Bridges of Morris and Helen Robb of Oxford, a brother John Enggaard and wife Joan of Chicago and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ray Clement, her brother Paul Enggaard and sisters Elsie Cusma and Mazie Kirchbaum.
A memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Morris with the Rev. Sara Baron officiating. A calling hour will be held from 1 p.m. until the service time at the church.
