Rodney H. MacLaury Sr., 60, of Norwich, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Oxford.
Rodney was born on Jan.30, 1954 in Norwich the son of Julian and Della (Shepard) MacLaury. A hard worker all of his life, Rodney worked as a farm hand on several Chenango County farms. He also was employed by Gladding Corp., the Oxford school system and the Canasawacta Country Club.
Rodney’s family ment everything to him. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on Sunday’s, which was his only day off, and the Christmas holiday’s which were his favorite time of year. He was an avid football fan, enjoyed his NASCAR races and liked listening to music by Rod Stewart.
Rodney is survived by his children Tonya MacLaury and fiancee Matthew Proskine, Rodney H. MacLaury Jr and his companion Amanda Stroizer, his sisters Dorothy Eltz and husband Russell of Taylor, Linda MacLaury of Norwich, Mary Cruz and Judy Garbrick both of Cortland, Terry Rider and husband Preston of Cleveland, GA and his brothers Eugene MacLaury and wife Kathy of Smyrna and Daniel (Danny) MacLaury and wife Andrea of East Pharsalia. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren his wife and mother of his children Donna MacLaury of Norwich and his former son-in-law James Lamphere III.
Rodney was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Jackson and brother Randy MacLaury.
A funeral service for Rodney will be held on Monday, Aug. 4, at noon from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
