NORWICH –­ Karen Chawgo lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014. Karen was born on March 28, 1943 in Syracuse, NY to parents Jane and Edward Church. Karen met her Husband Carl Chawgo in Sackets Harbor, NY where they were married on May 12, 1961. They began their journey together in the Watertown and Morrisville area. Upon settling in Chenango County in 1965 they raised three boys in Norwich, New Berlin and South New Berlin. Karen was well known for always having a beautiful smile and taking the time to chat with customers at Walmart where she was employed until her illness would no longer allow her to work.
Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years, her three sons and their families, Troy Chawgo and his wife Pam, Tracy Chawgo, and Tim Chawgo and fiancé Lynn Cerverizzo, her ten Grand Children and Great Grandchild. Karen is also survived by her sister Kathleen Baleno, brothers Glenn Church and Steve Hoose. The family would like to say a special thank you to her dear friend Billie Knapp who was a blessing to the family and Karen during the last few weeks of her life.
