DONNA L. FRANKLIN
EAST PHARSALIA – Donna L. Franklin, 70, a longtime resident of East Pharsalia and most recently of Norwich, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 18, 2014, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Donna was born on July 26, 1944 in Norwich the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Westover) Dolan. She grew up in East Pharsalia and was a 1961 graduate of the Norwich High School. Following her schooling she gained employment with the Norwich Shoe Co. where she worked for over 30 years. In 1992 Donna went to work for New York Central Ins. Co. in the Sherburne office until her retirement in May of 2008.
Donna was very active in the East Pharsalia Community. She was a member of the East Pharsalia Fire Dept. Auxiliary for over 25 years where she served as treasurer, had served many years as Election Inspector and served as President of the East Pharsalia Cemetery.
Donna was a very friendly and outgoing person. She had many friends throughout the community and loved to dance. In her younger years she spent many nights dancing at the Loomis Hay Loft in South Otselic.
Donna is survived by her sister Dorothy Manwarren, her brother Merle (Mike) Dolan both of Norwich, her companion of many years Harmon Newell of Norwich, her 3 nieces Wendy Snyder and husband William of Albany, Connie Manwarren of Norwich and Tina Roach - Kelly and husband Edmund of Brooklyn. Also surviving are her 3 great nephews Matthew Snyder, Niall Roach - Kelly and Cormac Roach - Kelly. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Donna will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the East Pharsalia Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
