NEW BERLIN – David Bruce Harshbarger, 23, of New Berlin died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 in Pittsfield.
He was born Dec. 24, 1986 in Norwich, and spent his childhood in the New Berlin area, attending New Berlin Central School.
David is survived by his parents, David and Ida (Beardsley) Harshbarger; a sister, Mary Montenegro of New Berlin; a brother, Johnathan Harshbarger of Auburn; two nieces: Kristen and Jasmine Montenegro; his girlfriend, Amy, and stepchildren Minnie, Isaiah, Adrian and Lilly.
David was a very special person to our family right from the very day he was born as he was our Christmas present. He grew to love the outdoors. His deepest passion was fishing. From the time he learned to cast his first pole at the age of 4 years old, we couldn’t keep him away from the water. He also loved to trap and hunt, earning him the nick name “Davy Crockett.” Family meant everything to him. We all have our own special memories of him and he will be deeply missed.
Funeral services for David will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Pastor Gary Foltz officiating. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of New Berlin.
