ELMIRA – Mary L. Fitch, 64, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014, at her home, following an extended illness.
Born in Roaring Springs, PA, on June 8, 1950, Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Buseck Sheats. A longtime resident of the Elmira area, she had worked for the Corning School District, where she had been employed as a licensed teaching assistant, until she became ill. She attended the First Baptist Church of South Otselic.
She is survived by her husband, John Fitch, and a son, Matthew (Emily) Fitch of Buffalo. She also leaves behind a brother, Edward (Michele) Sheats of Pulaski; and sisters-in-law, Alyce Fitch of South Otselic, Beverly (Stan) Ely of Killawog, Ruth (Richard) Rood of North Pitcher, and Cheryl (Don) Weed of Marathon.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of South Otselic, on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Daniel Drake and Reverend Jim Moore officiating. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours.
