HILDA R. WELLS
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Hilda R. Wells, 82, a longtime resident of South New Berlin, passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2014, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Hilda was born on April 1, 1932 in Norwich the daughter of Kenneth and Norma (Gibson) Taylor. She grew up in the Norwich and South New Berlin area and was a graduate of the South New Berlin School. She furthered her education by attending Utica State Hospital earning her nursing degree in 1953. Hilda then attended the University of the State of New York where she earned her RN degree. Over the years she had worked in Boston, New York City and Pittsburgh. She returned to South New Berlin where she has made her home for over 40 years and was employed as an RN at Chenango Memorial Hospital for 30 plus years.
On September 10, 1955 in the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin she married Keith Wells who passed away September 3, 1987.
Hilda is survived by her children Michael Wells and wife Linda of Morris and Carol Lynne Wells of Norwich, her granddaughter Julia Mathews of Endicott along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Keith, Hilda was predeceased by her brothers Robert, Alan (Mert) and Curtis Taylor.
A funeral service for Hilda will be held on Friday evening at 7 p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Robert Decker of the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
