MARTHA A. DANN
SIDNEY – Martha Amelia (Hall) Dann, 99, longtime resident of Sidney, passed away late Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Martha was born July 20, 1915, daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Smith) Hall in Sidney. In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her husband, Elmer J. Dann, Jr., granddaughter, Deborah J. Dann and grandson, Kevin M. Dann.
She is survived by: son, James E. (Penelope Smith) Dann; daughter, Mary L. (Dann) Clune; grandchildren: Shari L. Dann (Ken Vrana), Karinda L. (Dann) (John) Trowbridge, Timothy (Dang) Clune, Jonathan (Jackie) Clune and Jeffrey (Terri) Clune; 12 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She worked at Scintilla (Amphenol) in her early years. She later worked at Bates Insurance Agency, Sidney for many years. She also owned and operated Hillcrest Roller Rink in Sidney, which was originally owned and operated by her father. Martha was a life-long member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary for the UMW for many years. She was also a 68 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sidney Chapter, and served as District Deputy.
Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal shelter or to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
